For the Love of Reading 2004 presents Andrea Beck

The third annual For the Love of Reading event featured renowned
children's author and illustrator, and creator of the Elliot Moose
series, Andrea Beck. The event took place Saturday Oct. 16th
at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library.
In the morning, Andrea Beck held an excellent writing and illustrating
workshop for 23 grade 4-6 students who represented 17 different schools
and home school families. At the free afternoon event Andrea captivated
young and old alike as she shared her personal secret of having a difficult
time learning to read, how she writes her stories and draws Elliot.
Following her presentation, children were able to get a hug from Elliot,
purchase Elliot books and have them signed, and enjoy a snack. Prior to the
event, "Elliot" visited local daycares and preschools to collect hugs,
share a story and promote reading and the event.
